Overview:

In this experiment, the students will be able to understand the connections between solids and liquids with the help of making homemade ice cream. We will compare and contrast ice cream made in a bag with salt and without salt. The transition of the state of matter, in this case, liquid to solid, will allow the students to gain an understanding of chemistry and liquid freezing points. This experiment can be done with or without a partner.

Learning Objectives:

Recognize the matters involved

  1. Solid & liquid

 2. Connect food to science

 3. Apply this new knowledge to other foods

 4. Create their own food experiments
